Each event had a main objective concerning the training and educational issues. But they also had sessions of open discussions, which provided some interesting diagnosis, conclusions and recommendations. Trying to emphasize the most relevant aspect of each meeting, the latest can be summarized as follow:

• Santo Domingo 2005.- The necessity of strengthening the cooperation was shown, as well as the usefulness of this kind of events.

• Lima 2005.- The participants established the main requirements for the pilot projects (see bellow)

• Antigua 2006.- The cooperation, adoption of integral solutions and the multidisciplinary approaches were emphasized.

• Mendoza 2006.- The participants at this event noticed that it is important to put in practice public education actions about flood risk, as well as capacity building programmes. PROHIMET assumed the compromise of preparing material for dissemination of knowledge and experiences.

• San Carlos 2007.- Education, capacity building, risk mapping, land use planning and early warning systems need special new efforts. The participants recommended providing education and public awareness through the mass communication and broadcasting.
